Cookie policy
Last updated · 2026-05-13
At Startcat App Development, S.L. («Startcat») we want you to know exactly what happens in your browser when you visit lyn.cat. Short answer: we only use strictly necessary technical cookies. No analytics, advertising or third-party cookies.
1. What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file a website saves on your device (computer, phone or tablet) to remember information between visits. They are classified by purpose (technical, preferences, analytics, advertising), duration (session or persistent) and origin (first or third party).
2. Which cookies this site uses
2.1 Technical cookies (first-party, strictly necessary)
These are essential for the site to work. They do not require consent under Article 22.2 of the Spanish LSSI and the AEPD Guide on the use of cookies.
- NEXT_LOCALE (or equivalent from our Next.js framework): remembers the selected language (ca/es/en) to serve content in your language. Persistent.
- Security and session cookies the framework may generate on demand (e.g. CSRF prevention if applicable). Session cookies.
2.2 Third-party cookies
None. The site does not embed advertising scripts (such as Meta Pixel or Google Ads) or social media scripts that track your activity.
2.3 Web analytics via Umami (cookieless)
To understand which pages you visit and where you come from, we use Umami Analytics, self-hosted on our own server (analytics-niu.lyn.cat, Lyncat). Umami does not use cookies or any other persistent identifier, data never leaves Lyncat's own server, does not receive or store personal data, and IP addresses are processed anonymously and never stored. That is why we do not ask for your consent for this tool (Article 22.2 of the Spanish LSSI does not apply).
You can review Umami's privacy policy to see exactly what it measures.
2.4 Preference cookies
We do not use preference cookies beyond the language one.
3. Managing cookies
Because this site only uses strictly necessary technical cookies, we do not provide a configuration panel: disabling them may break the site. You can still manage them from your browser settings:
4. If we add other cookies in the future
If we ever add analytics or advertising tools that require non-exempt cookies (e.g. Google Analytics 4), we will update this policy and show a consent panel before enabling them. Our intention is to stick to privacy-respecting tools (such as cookieless analytics like self-hosted Umami) whenever possible.
5. Data processing
The language cookie does not collect personally identifiable information. For other processing arising from your visit, see our privacy policy.
6. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect legal or technological changes. The date of the last update appears at the top of this document.
